    Olympian Pargat Singh unanimously elected President, Nitin Kohli Gen Secy of Hockey Punjab

  • ‘Whatever I am today, that is because of hockey : Pargat Singh Jalandhar 30 October -----The Indian hockey team has reinvented hockey after 41 years by winning the medal in the Olympic Games held in Tokyo and the Punjab Government and the hockey Punjab will work together to maintain the environment. To give hockey a further boost where infrastructure will be provided at needed areas there will be deployment of coaches and kits and sports equipment distributed to players. This is what Hockey Olympian and State Sports Minister Pargat Singh said today at the annual general meeting of Jalandhar Hockey Punjab after being elected the president of Hockey Punjab for the next four years. Pargat Singh said that whatever he is today, he is because of the hockey game. He is dedicated to the hockey game throughout life and be there for the players all the time. After being unanimously elected as the president, thanking the entire office bearers, former Indian hockey team captain Pargat Singh said that before this, while serving as the secretary, he gets the support of all and hopes that this cooperation will continue in the future. In the unanimous election of Hockey Punjab, Nitin Kohli was elected as General Secretary and Daljit Singh as Treasurer. Rights to make the rest of the Hockey Punjab executive were given to the newly appointed President of Hockey Punjab Pargat Singh and General Secretary Nitin Kohli. The meeting was participated by the Heads and General Secretaries of the Hockey Associations of different districts of Punjab. On this occasion, Kartar Singh, Joint Director of Punjab Sports Department joined as Observer while Navdeep Singh Gill joined as representative of Punjab Olympic Association. On this occasion, Senior Vice President of Hockey Punjab, Olympian Harpreet Singh Mander shined light on the achievements of hockey Punjab and encouraged all district units to boost hockey further. Olympian Virender Singh, Olympian Baljit Singh Dhillon, Olympian Sanjeev Kumar, Olympian Hardeep Singh Grewal, Former International Player Amrik Singh Powar, Lakhwinder Pal Singh Khehra, Sawinder Singh Billa, Surinder Singh Bhapa, Sharanjit Kaur Former International Player, HMV College Principal Dr. Ajay Sareen, Ripudman Kumar Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Harinder Sangha, Kulbir Singh and others were present.
